ABOUT TAIT MEDIA

BARRY TAIT
Founder & video Producer

During my High School years, as a varsity wrestler, I wanted to record my matches to improve my skills so I rented a VHS camcorder in 1985 and thus started my passion for video production.

After graduating from UW Parkside with a BA in Business/Marketing, I discovered that my passion for video production could also be my career.  In 1993, I started Tait Video Production - which is now Tait Media - 30 years and going strong.

It is through marketing, selling and producing thousands of videos for companies all over Wisconsin, that I continue to enjoy the interaction and variety of challenges  that come from designing new projects and meeting new people.

Cody's work touches most aspects of the company, involving strategizing, organizing, designing, and publicizing the great work we do for our clients every day.

Ron went to the University of Michigan and studied engineering. As a metallurgical engineer by trade, he worked at Modine Manufacturing for 25 years. However, in the 1960’s, he started experimenting with a film based camera.

Ron started the business with Barry and Sandy in their basement in the early 90's, doing wedding videos then graduating into corporate videos not long after.

Today, Ron is retired but still enjoys getting updates from Barry about the business.  He, as a great visionary, is a strong supporter and encourager to Barry and Tait Media.

Sandy Tait

Sandy graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. She was the executive director of both the YWCA and the Racine Literacy Council.

Sandy's administrative experience has been utilized in doing the bookkeeping and writing proposals.

OUR STORY

(1980's-2000)

Growing up, Barry and his bothers, Andy and Chris, were all wrestlers.

In the winter of 1985, they, along with their father, rented a VHS camcorder to record wrestling tournaments. They used the footage to learn from mistakes and improve. This step helped Barry win 2nd place in the state tournament in 1986. He had a passion for wrestling and many of those traits of dedication and persistence stay with him today. Little did he know that this one rented video camera would chart his professional career.

Barry graduated in 1990 with a BA in Business Marketing from UW- Parkside.  At the time, the economy was in a severe recession, thus making it difficult to find meaningful work.  After a few years of experience with different sales jobs, in 1993, he decided to start a video production company with his parents, Ron and Sandy, in the basement of their family home.

Initially producing wedding videos,  he soon branched out into the field of corporate video.

In the early 2000’s, technologies were changing from analog to digital...

 (2000-Present)

Tait Media kept up with these fast changes, by upgrading cameras and computers every few years and continuing to learn new software.

Mike Dougherty was a key component of Tait Media and was always there to lend a helping hand with video production, editing, websites and animations.

Our client list continued to grow as we were working with manufacturers such as Harley-Davidson, Lennox, Modine, and SC Johnson.

In 2005, YouTube came out and things just kept picking up the pace as Facebook started the social media revolution, Tait Media upgraded again to HD and we were off to the races with a growing client list of Aurora, ESW, DDI, and Allied Plastics.

In 2020, Tait Media rebranded with a bold orange and blue logo. Video continues to be a large part of our society. More video is being produced and consumed on our phones and computers than ever was on our TV’s.

In late 2021, we added our close advisors and social media team, Cody, Dakota and Amanda.  They have been a tremendous asset in upgrading our mindset and skillset.

In our 30th anniversary year, 2023, we moved the studio from Corporate Drive to 21st Street Racine, WI.
